November 2019 Newsletter

Hello everyone and welcome to November’s Newsletter. I have been on holiday this week, we went to London for a couple of days where I saw this amazing shop front in Camden, perhaps we could liven up the studio entrance?  I hope you all enjoyed classes with other teachers and while I was away Sandra’s husband fixed the front door that wouldn’t close- hurrah and we discovered from wet feet that the toilet is leaking but our teacher Steven is a plumber in his spare time (very handy) so that will be fixed next week. I would like to offer a low cost class for anyone who can’t afford to pay full price so Thursday evening 6 pm is now open to anyone low income/on benefits for a gold coin donation. We have new classes galore and workshops every weekend so please keep reading for all the information plus we sell organic cotton hand painted yoga clothes, you can look stylish while taking care of your well being. I hope we will see you soon for some simple stretching, serene softness and spacious steadiness. All good wishes from Grace.

Jaz, of self-curated “Black Sheep Yoga” (find me on Facebook soon)
Hi there, my name is Jaz and having qualified with the wonderful YogaHaven Brighton, I’m so excited to meet you and teach you some extraordinary work outs and mindful treats to encourage good mental health, good living and a strong body. I work with the children of Buxted school, and I’m now also exploring my gift as a yoga teacher. I’ve written some classes to kickstart my sessions at Uckfield Yoga, varying from sweaty, strengthening and feel-good flows, to mindful, gentle stretches with delightful meditations. I share my existence with a rather loud creature- anxiety. Yoga has taught me a lot over the years, how to slow down, how to accept, how to cry and how to smile. and I’m still learning. It’s also got me in great shape. I invite you to learn more about yourself and how to love that person. I’d be honoured to help.

Maggie who teaches Dance with Parkinson’s is looking for a volunteer helper

  • It is every Thursday – you’d need to arrive 10.30 and we’d be finished by 12.15. There would also be time to check in.
  • You get to join in!
  • You’d also be asked to greet people if Maggie was busy, put on the kettle; partner people when needed and be general supportive backup.
  • Would suit someone interested in Dance/movement, generally and for Well-being, and/or wanting to learn more about living with a neurological condition.
  • No experience of either is necessary but volunteers should have warm, empathic skills; enjoy having fun; and being with people.

Contact Maggie 07980 434951 or to have a chat about it.

Hello to you All,

With warmest thank yous to Grace and her expanding community, for creating the Uckfield Yoga Studio, and enthusiastically hosting my teaching.

I am Sarah Bristow, Yoga instructor, Shiatsu practitioner, Acupuncturist and Artist.

As many of you know, I weave Oriental magical practice and theory into the Yoga practice, especially during workshops with more time and space to relax, learn and restore yourself.

This gives you extra experience and skills to take home to your friends and family, enriching your daily lives.

Deep Yoga with Oriental healing Sat 9th Nov, 2-5pm, (also Sat 14th Dec & 13th Jan). £40

Deep Yoga with Oriental Healing offers a place to draw on the feminine/Yin aspects of ourselves in relation and integration with the masculine/Yang energies.’

And… Back Care Workshop, Saturday 16th November, 2-5pm. £40

Your well-being, depth of practice and sense of self can be enhanced with some of the fundamental hands-on techniques I bring from Shiatsu, integrated with Yoga.

Shiatsu is a Japanese health care system closely related to Acupuncture.

We use hands, fingers and thumbs, and sometimes elbows, knees and feet to apply gentle and effective pressure throughout the body of our patients, friends, family and yoga friends.

I have trained and worked since 1986 with a variety of teachers including Japanese and European Masters, both here in the U.K. and Japan.

I also now work as an Acupuncturist, having expanded my knowledge and practice of Oriental Medicine.

I love teaching Yoga, especially workshops when we have more time together to deepen the practice.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Grace Annand

Grace Annand

I have been teaching yoga in Uckfield for 15 years and now my dream has come true – we have a yoga studio. 20 years ago I went to my first yoga class and in 1999 I spent 6 months in India staying in ashrams, going to classes every day and learning as much as possible about yoga. In 2004 I completed teacher training with the Pranava school and then I studied the diploma with BWY. I call my classes ordinary yoga – there is a philosophical theme each week, focus on breathing well, moving our body and connecting to the self . We come together to practice, each person exploring their personal source of wisdom to create a balanced, complete and happy life. Yoga practice is a tool to help us develop our awareness and being together with others on same path can support and inspire us, please join us you will be very welcome.
