11:00 am: Tai Chi Qigong for Beginners - Caroline11:00 am: Tai Chi Qigong for Beginners - Caroline – Qigong (pronounced Chee gung) is a type of gentle exercise which originated in China and has been practised for thousands of years. Gentle movements are done repeatedly in a flowing sequence bringing together body, mind and breath which encourages relaxation and creates a meditative effect. The movements are simple and easy to follow which makes the practice available to most people. They can be done standing or seated or a combination of the two. When we are mindful we are fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at the present time and we become more focussed and aware of our thoughts and feelings. Practicing mindfulness helps us to be more accepting and kinder to ourselves and others. This helps us to lower our stress levels and be more connected to who we want to be. Practicing Qigong has been shown to have many health benefits including relaxing the mind and body, improving posture and balance, improving breathing and circulation, strengthening the joints and muscles, and improving energy levels and wellbeing. Because it can help to reduce stress it can help with many health conditions that are worsened by stress. It would be great if you could join me to learn and practise this really enjoyable moving meditation. No equipment is needed, just wear comfortable clothing. We unusually practice in bare feet or non-slip socks. The session will end with a short seated or lying meditation for which you need to bring your own mat and blanket. The cost of the class is £10 for the 1hour session. You can take advantage of a reduced price of £45 for 5 sessions if you pay in advance. Please make payment in advance by bank transfer or bring cash on the day but make sure you book your place as space is limited. Hope to see you soon. Feel free to contact me by phone, text or email to book in and with any questions about the class. I will be happy to hear from you. 11:30 am: Yoga for children with autism & special needs - Cessally11:30 am: Yoga for children with autism & special needs - Cessally – A new fortnightly class for children with ASD or special needs and their families. At the class we will explore poses and connect with our breath. Most importantly we will introduce the children to meditation and relaxation and we will share some lovely exercises that calm the nervous system and help with self regulation. The studio will be set up so that if a child doesn’t want to be in a group they can enjoy their own space and they are welcome to join the group at anytime. I’m also hoping the sessions will give the parents and carers a well deserved chance to rest, if only for a few minutes! Sessions are £6 per person. |

4:00 pm: Take A Breath workshop- Vera4:00 pm: Take A Breath workshop- Vera – TAKE A BREATH Introduction to meditation through mindful movement and pranayama with Vera Duse In this workshop we will dedicate two hours to the slowing down, through the synergistic practices of yoga and meditation. Through breathing practices and moving our bodies in conscious ways, we prepare our mind for meditation, which we will attempt, without any expectation, at the end of the class. Sometimes meditation is a practice that is scary to start for many reasons - maybe we believe we can't sit still or concentrate for long enough. That is why starting with mindful breathing and movement - in the form of a gentle hatha yoga flow, is the best introduction to it. Being stressed is the natural state of this "always on-the-go" life. We are often bombarded by stimuli and never at rest, resulting in a chronic overactivation of the fight or flight response system. Yoga and meditation activate the opposite system to the fight or flight one, the parasympathetic system, also called the rest and digest system. Did you ever ask yourself why it is called rest and digest? Because the benefits of activating it are exactly that: better sleep, better digestion, lower blood pressure, balance in all the systems and better moods and mental clarity. The time seems never enough to carve out some slowing down, relaxing space. That's why I am passionate about holding the space for you to create this particular kind of relaxing practice. Think of this workshop as a 2 hour well-being retreat to nurture yourself and relax in a way that you never allow yourself to. Take time out to balance all the activity in your life with the adequate rest you need to maintain a sense of, not only physical, but also mental, emotional and energetic relaxation, restoring and revitalising your entire being. The workshop costs £15.
