3rd May 2022Psychotherapeutic yoga integrates the Ashaya yoga method with psychological therapy. Ashaya yoga is an alignment based practice that focuses on ‘heart-opening’ and has its roots in Tantric philosophy. Passcode: 776791I am a certified Hatha yoga teacher trained in the Ashaya Yoga method, which is an alignment-based practice that is focused on 'heart-opening' and has its roots in Tantric philosophy. My main occupation is as a Practitioner Psychologist in the NHS and I am registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council: PYL34365). The style of yoga that I practice thus integrates my therapeutic knowledge with yoga poses, whereby therapeutic themes are interwoven throughout the class and 'psychoeducation' is provided. Some of the therapeutic additions draw on trauma focused techniques, compassion focused therapy, inner child work, anxiety management, and much more.
The more therapeutic experience that I have gained, the more I have come to understand the essential role of the body in trauma, whereby unprocessed trauma is understood to be 'stored' in the body. I come from a trauma-informed perspective where I view many of the difficulties that individuals experience as having roots in trauma. This can be relational, physical, ancestral (epigenetics) and/or societal. We are constantly bombarded with messages that lead to 'not feeling good enough', which can arise from unrealistic comparisons and expectations that essentially cause chronic stress. The combined approach of 'yoga asana' and 'mind perspective' serves to reduce this.

4th May 2022A friendly Hatha flow yoga class, where poses gently flow on to each other, building up strength & flexibility. This is a slightly longer class, so after building up strength and energy in our asana (poses), we have time to explore pranayama ( breathwork) and more restorative/quieter poses before a delicious nurturing savasana (relaxation). Through these practices we strengthen and open the body, find quiet within the mind and rebalance our energies.
My focus is being present and connected to our self, finding joy and a sense of humour in our practice, and bringing these tools into our everyday.
We all have an abundance of wisdom, beauty, and clarity within ourselves. All we need, we already have. By connecting to ourselves, we open the gateway within.
All are very welcome, and class passes are accepted for studio & zoom.

Women's Circle - Gemma
–
6th May 2022You are invited to the first of hopefully many Uckfield women's circles.
What is a women's circle? The tradition of women gathering in circle to share, support and connect with each other is an ancient one and one we should re claim. it is needed now more than ever.A women's circle is a simple gathering of a group of women in a safe space, gathering with intention and without judgement. A much needed healing sanctuary in which to to take time out and connect with like minded women, share in meditation, craft and whatever else feels right. Simply breath and let go of the outside world for the duration. A space to recharge, Re fill that empty cup!We will honour the seasons both in nature and in our ourselves, return and connect to the sacred feminine within and allow this circle of women to be a source of strength, inspiration and allow our hearts to be filled. You are welcome no matter how you feel. Just show up and be held. With loveGemmaTo book your space contact Gemma07545061535I have been supporting women and facilitating women's circles for the past 10 years. This will be the first of hopefully many for Uckfield. -

26th May 2022I teach traditional Hatha Yoga, however the classes also have a 'Yin/Yang' feel to them. This class is suitable for beginners becoming intermediates. We tend to practice more advanced poses during the sessions, but the stronger asanas are fully guided and supported. In these classes we explore different breathing techniques that help to support and align the body, especially during the postures and dynamic movement.
I have taught Yoga for almost 10 years; teaching has always brought me immense joy, especially when I see a student go from strength to strength. You will not be charged for the first class.Contact Maria on - 07861253822 or maoc1215@gmail.com
